35 Great James Street, Holborn
We were asked to take on a refurbishment project in Great James Street where a firm of solicitors had acquired a four-storey Georgian terraced house, with the goal of turning it into 21st century office space.
No 35 is Grade 2 Listed Building which of course means that any work carried out must be done in a sympathetic manner, avoiding any detrimental impact on the fabric or interior. This was quite a challenge given the requirement to improve the mechanical and electrical systems and data communications. Joinery, plumbing, heating air conditioning and decorations also had to be addressed, along with the installation of new kitchen and toilet / washroom facilities.
We were also tasked with improving where possible, the property’s thermal performance when repairing and replacing windows, and there was the additional challenge of sourcing and erecting complex scaffolding to enable our teams to get safe access to the facade and the roof.
The client was delighted with the end result, not least because the project was successfully delivered to a tight timescale.
